Family Visit (S2) Dox List:

– Passport valid for min. 6 months from the date of travel & old passport
– Photocopy of passport bio-page and address page
– One application form
– 2 Latest Photos – 33mm X 48mm, white background, glossy finish, 70% face, lips closed and without spects
– Covering letter of client (addressed to “Consulate General of the Peoples Republic of China, Mumbai”) (if self-employed, this letter should be on the company letter-head). It should mention the applicant’s details, place of visit and the name, address and contact number of the inviting person
– Invitation letter addressed to “Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China, Mumbai”, inviter’s passport copy and China Residence Permit copy & Chinese ID
– Invite letter can be in the form of a fax, photocopy or computer printout, however, the visa officer may call for the original letter
– It should contain the applicant’s info (name, gender, passport number, date of birth etc.)
– Information on the visit (purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, relations between the applicant and the inviting individual, financial source for expenditures, etc.)
– Information on the inviting individual (name, contact telephone number, address, signature, etc.)
– Inviter’s China arrival and departure stamp pages in the passport
– Original of marriage certificate, birth certificate or notarized certification of kinship showing the relationship of family members between the applicant and the inviting individual (Notary + Mantralaya (Home Department + Chinese consulate legalization)
– For private affairs, documentation identifying the nature of the private affairs such as marriage, inheritance, adoption etc should be provided as required by the consular officer
– Personal appearance at Mumbai VAC is mandatory to provide biometrics

Note:

— All civil documents (marriage certificate, birth certificate etc) need to be notarized and legalized by the section officer, Home Department, Mantralaya, Mumbai
— Notarization and Mantralaya legalization will be done for INR1000 extra per document
— After legalization, the documents should then be submitted to the Chinese consulate for legalization
— Invite letter and covering letter should have the complete name of the applicant and the passport number as per the current passport
— Chinese Consulate may call for more documents or an interview with the applicant
— If the applicant is a frequent tourist to China, then the covering letter should contain details of reason for re-visit, the placed the applicant plans to visit this time and the places the applicant visited before
— PR holders of other countries need to apply from that country if not living in India for last 6 months
— J&K born pax – Visa takes approx 10-15 working days and chances of rejection are more
— J&K born pax – dates on ticket, invite letter, covering letter should match exactly as the stay period granted will be for these exact dates only
